About the Artist

Photographer Marc Lansdorp spent his early years in and around the city of Sydney. With camera in hand he watched and shot the people, the wildlife, the wharves and ferries, the buildings – the real world. Then, in the darkroom, the real world became his world. "I couldn't hear, smell, taste or touch them, just see their reflection on photographic paper. I realized that all I was doing was capturing reflected light, so I decided to experiment by focusing on the light itself, rather than the subject, and see what happened".

The result is the extraordinary images displayed on this website, available as limited edition prints for interior design. "I combine coloured plastics, glass, liquid and light. The translucent media slows the light, bending and mixing the various sources, then reflecting them toward the camera. Considering that light in a vacuum travels at 299,792,458 metres per second, capturing its dance is a special experience, one which can produce beautiful images with a timeless quality, not mirrored reality, but a reflection of eternity".

Marc now shares his time between the creative hub of Bellingen on the NSW North Coast and Melbourne where - after a thirty year Australia wide career in the media, ironically working with sound not visual imagery - he is pursuing his passion for photographic art. Contact Marc »»
